Feedback That Lands

5-minute animated course for new managers

Learners watch Priya give vague feedback and see what it costs. They then learn the SBI model (Situation, Behaviour, Impact) and watch her use it in a two-way conversation with Arjun. The course ends with a quick knowledge check, a reflection and a recap.

  • Wrote the learning objectives, script and scene-by-scene storyboard
  • Built custom PowerPoint animations with unDraw illustrations for the Priya and Arjun characters
  • Produced multi-voice AI narration; created captions in Clipchamp and edited them for accuracy
Technical build details
  • 12 slides, 4:53 runtime, exported from PowerPoint as an MP4 and published on YouTube
  • Slide Master for a consistent gradient bar and layout across every slide
  • Animation Pane sequencing: Fade entrance and exit effects, After Previous / With Previous timing, and delays retimed to match the narration line by line
  • Multi-voice ElevenLabs narration: a narrator plus separate voices for Priya and Arjun; one MP3 per scene embedded on its slide, set to Start Automatically and Hide During Show
  • Fade transitions and auto-advance so the course plays as one continuous video
  • Closed captions: SRT file created in Clipchamp, edited for accuracy and uploaded to YouTube; chose on/off captions over burned-in text so learners aren't reading the same words twice (redundancy principle) while keeping it accessible

Quality & Controls Auditing: A New Hire's Guide

Scenario-based onboarding module for new hires

Drawing on seven years as a Quality Analyst, I built this module around realistic audit scenarios. Learners practise real audit and quality-control decisions through interactive sorting and process-flow activities, with knowledge checks along the way and a scored quiz at the end.

  • Followed the ADDIE model with clear learning objectives
  • Storyboard and script written from scratch
  • Realistic audit scenarios that ask learners to make real decisions
Technical build details
  • Designed from scratch: learning objectives, storyboard and script written before any build began
  • Built in Articulate 360 using a mix of content blocks and interactive elements chosen to keep learners active on every screen
  • Interactive sorting activity: learners classify real audit and quality-control situations
  • Process-flow activity: learners work through the audit process step by step
  • Knowledge checks along the way with feedback that explains why, and a scored final quiz
  • Visuals from Articulate 360's built-in media for a clean, consistent look
  • Published to the web and hosted on Netlify

Enrolling a Learner in Moodle: Try Me Simulation

Hands-on Try Me simulation for new LMS administrators

Learners practise enrolling a learner in a Moodle course on a recorded Moodle screen, and can only move forward by clicking the right place. A wrong click shows feedback, Try Again reveals a hint, and a results slide shows how many wrong clicks they made and recaps the three steps.

  • Learn-by-doing practice: Prev/Next hidden so learners progress only by doing the task
  • Layered hint-on-error feedback and a WrongClicks variable reported on the results slide
  • Published as SCORM 1.2 and tested on SCORM Cloud: completion and time tracked correctly
Technical build details
  • Storyline 360 screen recording in Try mode, captured in a Moodle sandbox
  • Number variable (WrongClicks) counts errors, resets at the start and is shown on the results slide
  • Feedback and hint layers on every step, with Try Again revealing a hint
  • Accessibility: took Storyline's accessibility checker from 16 issues to zero with distinctive slide titles, heading and body text styles, alt text for every screenshot and click area, and accessibility controls on
  • Delivered as a web version on Netlify and a SCORM 1.2 package; completion is based on viewing all 7 slides and reported as Completed/Incomplete, since this is practice rather than a test
  • LMS test: uploaded to SCORM Cloud and taken as a learner; completion reported as complete and time tracked correctly

06 · STORYLINE 360 COURSE OPENING

Navigating Difficult Conversations: The Opening

The first 8 minutes of a soft-skills course on hard conversations at work

This is the opening of a longer course, not the full course. The brief asked for the opening only, so I put my effort into the part that decides whether people lean in or switch off. Learners start on Meera's phone: Sam's report is late again, and they watch her type and delete three replies before sending "No worries!". Then they rewind, choose a better reply, and see how Sam reads each one.

  • Opens on a real moment instead of a list of objectives, so learners feel the hesitation before anything is taught
  • Rewind lets learners pick one of three replies and see what Sam actually thinks of each
  • Ends with learners writing the first line of their own conversation, so they leave with something to use
Technical build details
  • 8 screens, about 8 minutes: start card, the message Meera almost sent, rewind, what made the difference, you and your conversation, clarity vs comfort, your path and first line, end of the opening
  • Phone-style cold open built with layers: the drafts appear and disappear, and a later layer shows what that "No worries!" costs by 9:15 PM
  • Rewind screen: one layer per reply (avoid, blunt, clear) with Sam's thought bubbles, built with triggers and states
  • Reflection: a clarity vs comfort slider and a text box where learners write their own first line
  • Learning design: Kolb's experiential learning cycle, adult learning principles and Gagné's first three events (gain attention, share the goal, connect to what learners already know)
  • Narration on every screen with closed captions, and Storyline characters for Meera and Sam
  • Design rationale available as a PDF in the player's Resources tab
  • Publishing: reviewed in Review 360, published to Web and hosted on Netlify, and published as SCORM 1.2 and tested on SCORM Cloud

My Approach

I start from real work

Shaped by the job

Every module draws on years of seeing where new hires struggle, which processes break, and what separates people who cope from people who excel.

Decisions, not slides

Learners are put in realistic situations, asked to make decisions, and given feedback that explains why.

Accessible by default

Captions, alt text and keyboard-friendly interactions are built in from the start, never added at the end.

How I Work

A clear process, start to finish

Grounded in ADDIE, adapted to each project.

Analyse

Understand the audience, the performance gap and what success looks like, working with SMEs.

Design

Write measurable objectives, choose the format, and storyboard and script every screen or scene.

Develop

Build in Storyline, Articulate 360 or PowerPoint, add AI narration, captions and interactions.

Review

Run QA, accessibility checks and stakeholder reviews so every detail is consistent and correct.

Publish & Evaluate

Publish to the LMS or web, then use quiz results and feedback to improve it.
